Took a geology class I get it.

Edit: Thank you all for telling me how you understood this pun. I'll use this data in my plan to take over the world with puns.

You know other cultures do things differently, right? I mean it's not all about 'Murica. Doing what your parents want you to do and listening to your elders is expected in other cultures. Keeping up the family hopes and expectations is part of it too. From what I've read in his comments and post, he doesn't have Stockholm Syndrome. You're being dramatic.

Thank you Doctors O'Sullivan and Orenstein for all you do! I'm 27 with CF, still kickin'.

Kalydeco and Orkambi are great additions to treatments, but our existing treatments and meds are still so expensive, what can we do to get those costs to go down?

I live in Alaska and here they have what's called Denali Kid Care, for families with low income and kids. So I was on that until 18. I was also always on my mothers insurance growing up. Until I was 26.

However, when I was approaching 18 my social worker at my CF clinic told us to start looking into getting me on medicare. We did that and that became a secondary insurance. Once I turned 26 I was taken off my mothers insurance but still had Medicare and Medicaid. So my costs are pretty much covered. There are some issues though, with medicare they will not cover everything. I have a port and my doctor has me on Vitamin K, which he wrote a prescription for and Medicare wouldn't cover it, so that's out of pocket. There's been a few other things that aren't covered, but it's not too bad so far. I haven't had a hospital stay since I got off my mom's insurance so I don't know how that will go.

When your son is getting close to 18 I definitely suggest talking to your social worker about what to start doing for insurance then.
