Eh I'd argue it's less so if the knives are longer (swords). In a knife fight you can't parry, you just stab as fast as possible and hope the other guy drops when you hit an eye or artery or something. In a sword fight it's not unlikely to come out mostly unscathed.

Wow, I respect the "that's a big question with no easy answer" attitude there. Wish I could have the restraint from jumping to conclusions and easy answers.
