I think your paper needs a more overt example to make the visual impact of your project clear. The lasagna is cute but people who will be using this won’t be looking at lasagna, they’ll be looking at genuine surgery images. So I think omitting an image of an actual surgery (and how it looks through the filter) was a missed opportunity. Disgust is an immediate physical and emotional response and it’s hard to appreciate how well this technology can tempter it without genuinely repulsive imagery to make the contrast evident.

Have you considered using meat as an example? Anyone that goes to the grocery store or that cooks raw meat is familiar with what it looks like and have become accustomed to the gore of it so it’s unlikely to be so distasteful they won’t read but it’s the best approximation to human flesh.

My dentist once gave me a gentian violet treatment for my teeth (it was effective and inexpensive if not very attractive). It is/was commonly given the babies. Ask your dentist if this will work for you? You might even be able to water it down to use like a very purple mouthwash.
