Solar eclipses happen on Earth roughly every 18 months. Earth is 70% ocean though, so solidly overland eclipses are relatively uncommon. Over a particular spot, a total eclipses would be considered a once-in-lifetime event (on average).
The last eclipse that went coast-to-coast over the US was 100 years ago. The next eclipse over a substantial part of the US will be in 2024, with totality from Mexico to Canada through a line from Texas to Buffalo

Should I go to a place with a longer totality time or a better cloud cover percentage forecast?

How do you feel about gaming addiction? I love your site and sometimes go through major bouts of regular play, but eventually find myself in a place where I ask my account to be suspended just to get out of an unhealthy spiral--usually at least 6 months before I'm ready again. It's been at least 3 cycles of this, but knowing K has a trapdoor out really helps. Are there other organized addiction efforts you take part in?

Dr. Kaku,
Thanks for dropping in for an AMA--it's a fun time for science broadly with all the new ways for people to learn, show, teach, and share. I personally have learned a ton from the diversity of YouTube channels that do all kinds of science and math.
What do you think about this new democratizing of science learning? Do you have any personal favorites or recommendations, for physics or otherwise?
