I at the cemetery I regularly walk through grave digging time seems to be early-ish in the morning on the day a funeral will happen, I wonder if you could watch local obits in the paper and then head down well before to catch 'em diggin'.

Do you have volunteer help at your facility? I have been thinking of volunteering somewhere and I'd like to help people. I live near a "developmental center" and every time I drive by the thought of volunteering crosses my mind.

Hey Caitlin! I love Ask A Mortician and Smoke Gets In Your Eyes, I am a new fan of yours but I quickly read/listened to/watched everything I could find (not a stalker I promise!)

My question is, what is the best way to bring up the difficult conversation with your loved ones (parents & significant other) of what they want done with their remains?

Now that I've asked my question I have to gush a bit...

My grandpa passed away recently and my family chose to have no ceremony of any kind, in fact he had already been cramated and had his ashes spread when I was told he was gone. The following day a dog I worked with died suddenly of a heart related condition. Shortly after that I found your videos (thanks to an NPR peice on your book.)

You inspired my to have my own ceremonies both for my Grandpa and for Angelina and I am so greatful to you for helping me feel empowered to take control of my grieving process and do what I needed to do for me.

Thanks so much for doing this AMA!

I work at a guide dog school (not the one you raise for - I checked your history - cute puppies!! hehe) and I just wanted to say thank you so much for what you do! We wouldn't be able to do anything without our raisers! :)
