I lived in NM for a few years in the 70s and did not find this true. I visited many pueblos and found that as long as you had respect - didn't try climbing into the kiva or photograph residents like they were in a zoo - that people were friendly. Had many good experiences and was occasionally invited into someone's home to talk for a while. My time in New Mexico gave me tremendous respect for the people. I was fortunate to see some local dances and such and never experienced a problem. That being said I understand that some important events had become somewhat overrun with tourists after that and since that time tribes have taken to closing down the pueblo during these important events.

In my opinion it’s not teenagers, it’s teenagers drinking. Better enforcement of drinking laws would go a long way. Maybe only serve alcohol in 21+ areas.
