I will tell you a funny story. My ex listened to Punjabi music and had a CD loaded in the car player. Before the wedding my family came to visit and we let them borrow our second car to go site seeing (picture my family as redneckish). I had installed a new radio that had popout buttons so if you were't good with technology you might have trouble with it. Well it turns out they couldn't turn the music off or down... only up. So my parents were riding around in a Saturn with my grandparents in the back blasting Punjabi music all over town. Priceless.

I have actually been in your shoes (atheist, turban wedding and mother-in-law staying with us) although we ended up parting ways. I wouldn't change the experience for anything.

Let me preface this by saying I like Hindi and Punjabi music. However, my nickname for that music is DCP (Dying Cat Parade). You know how they sing through the nose sometimes in high pitches well that was the kind of music. It was full on DCP and my family had very little clue about things outside of the US so they were saying it sounded Japanese which made me laugh even harder.
