yeah, I understood that part. I am only asking about the case when you switch to solar power, you are wasting energy in the conversion.
Assisting the wheel using a motor in that case would be more efficient, won't it?

Don't you think you are wasting energy in the sense you are using solar power to turn the wheel using water and gravity?
Why not use an electrical motor to rotate the wheel directly?
