just the idea that i could be slowly dying a terrible and 100% incurable death because a squirrel got run over on my street scares the shit out of me. i don't mind bacteria and viruses at all, i'm not really scared for some reason. at least ebola can be killed with fire but prions are eternal and always lethal

This makes them VERY hard to unfold, so traditional decontamination methods don't often work on prions.

for want of a better word, how exactly would you "kill" a prion?
