They cost a shitton of money, because if you are not the product you are the customer and actually have to pay for the service.

I don’t know where your numbers come from. All I see is that quite a number of countries can provide basic health care for everyone. And they have done so for decades.
Only the richest country on earth somehow can’t. Something doesn’t add up here. I suspect it’s about wanting to do it, not about being able to do it.

You are assuming that the price structure of health care would stay in place. Considering that health care for standard treatments in the US is world wide the most expensive by a staggering margin this needn’t be the case.
