How are people coping without medicine if they have chronic illnesses?

Best wishes.

Wow this is amazing! I'm in a really similar situation and have had the same experience with the police and social workers! I really hope one day that my dad will have to face what he has done/is doing.

How have you coped with it? Does it get any better? I have PTSD and I hope it does. How do you think you can change things? I would love to do what you have done :)

Sorry it's a lot of questions.

Sorry, I meant a chronic illness that is not terminal.

My dad was abusive to my entire family (and still is in part) and whereas I have PTSD that I can live with and carry on with, my sister cannot. She has Asperger's and anxiety, and has had to stop going to mainstream school because the trauma she suffered under my dad was so severe. The professionals involved do not seem to be able to understand why she has gone from an A* student to one who can barely manage an hour of school without having a panic attack (she has an average of 4 or 5 a day), and seem intent on my sister returning to mainstream school and possibly seeing our abusive dad and she is so scared of strangers she can't say what she wants. My question is, are there any resources that might make the professionals realise the severity of her issues?

Thank you for doing the AMA.
