Kind of depends what kind of soil you're sitting on (is it prone to liquefaction? there are maps online) and whether you're bolted to the foundation (which might come up in a home inspection and you could also pull the house's blueprints from public records, in person 7-4pm I think near the City Light building).

Talk to your building managers and see if they've done any retrofits. My building went up in the '70s but I reached out to them after the New Yorker article and found out that it has had multiple seismic retrofits since then. It put my mind more at ease.

Do you have a sense of how long it would take to restore fresh water? I kind of freaked out after the New Yorker article and bought a 50 gallon food grade drum from Costco in which to store water but I haven't actually filled it yet.

I work in the Westin Exchange, built around the same time, and it has had 2 seismic retrofits since the Nisqually quake. I'd hazard (get it?) a guess that the Columbia Tower has had retrofits too. Email your office or building manager and find out.

Yes but hard to know if it will be earthquake related :-P
