Seriously, if the cop is reasonable enough make the effort to avoid arresting OP and knows it's a stupid thing he has to enforce, that's the guy you want protecting your neighborhoods and helping you down the road. If the mayor or chief is telling the cops to do it, it's going to get done, or else that cop is benched, fired, or whatever. So someone else is going to come in and do it, and the next guy might not be as reasonable. I'd rather have the reasonable and respectful cop arresting me for doing something nice, noncriminal, but "technically illegal" than the guy who pepper sprays people or tasers them. In the end, OP getting arrested is more publicity for his cause than he was getting on his own, so that's kind of the whole point. What a fucking fantasy it's going to be for the crime of the century to be someone feeding the homeless.
