Hateful speech is the only thing that needs to be protected. Everything else is just regular speech.

That's absurd. There are many forms of "speech" that need to be protected. The ability to speak out against the government. The ability to speak out against corporations and the wealthy. The ability to speak out against hate speech. The ability to discuss sex and sexuality. These types of speech are under attack all the time. All speech needs to be protected.
