i've been doing business with fedex freight, watkins/conway, yellow/roadway/yrc, abf, estes, and saia for about 12 years, working in shipping/receiving and quality control for an industrial metals retailer.
the job would be impossible without the skills and support of those drivers. knowing how to handle loads, use a pallet jack expertly, file claims for damaged goods, adapt to difficult loads that shift/break down in transit, navigate around shitty lots to badly-placed loading docks, work with customers to meet delivery and pick-up windows... i've just really learned to appreciate drivers, and how their job goes way beyond simply driving a vehicle.

Its really easy to see the country while being essentially penniless; you just have to be willing to sleep outside, spange/busk/do seasonal labor work for bits of cash, dumpster dive, couch surf, and hitchhike. Being "homeless" doesn't mean you need to be a homebum who sets up their life in a cardboard box in the park.

I'm more impressed that she lifts with a French manicure. That's fuckin dedication.

When I pay on a credit card, and you have me sign the receipt at the door, and I add a $3 tip on the receipt, do you get those $3?
I don't usually carry cash, and I've seemed to notice that the delivery people get bummed out when I put the tip on the card, and seem to really appreciate and prefer when I have cash for them.
