Parents who have been through this are then left alone, feeling miserable and guilty, without any support. Awareness weeks help make those topics of conversation more visible so those who have been through this don’t feel so alone, and help others support loved ones who are going through this because the topic, while not pleasant, is at least understood enough to let people know it’s ok to talk about.
