Hey, huge fan of your work! Not sure if you're still answering questions but I'll ask anyhow:
Half-Life 2 is by far one of my favorite games (still in the process of finishing Episode 2, actually.) One of the things that strike me the most about the game is the incredible level design - especially in City 17. I'm an indie game dev, and whenever I make levels, they look like crap. The textures and materials I use are decent, the engine's (Unreal) graphics are great, yet everything I make looks like crap. Whether it be architecture, landscapes, etc. I feel like it's partially due to bad lighting, partially because of poorly made models, and just my low level of experience and skill with level design. Any tips or tricks you know of for making nicer looking levels?
