One thing I was told is to imagine being the employer, and that you just fired someone. What would make someone bad at the job you're applying for? Imagine someone good enough to get the job, but not good enough to keep it.

Oftentimes it's something like "Well, I'd fire someone if they couldn't prioritize deadlines, because that job has a lot of work but not all of it is equally important. I'd shitcan someone who didn't interact well with customers, because we try really hard to seem friendly."

Obviously not OP, and obviously not a tomb sentinel, but that comment is sort of arguing to the absurd. While the tomb sentinels are dedicated to their position, I doubt that any of them would recklessly endanger themselves. If the wind got to the point they couldn't stand, or there was debris flying through the air, there are shelters they can still guard from, if I recall correctly.

Someone like that commenter may say, "Okay, so there is a limit to their dedication, and they aren't actually deserving of unending respect," and I would respectfully disagree. I believe those guards would be of the opinion that they can't stand guard if they are killed or injured, and thus retreating to the relative safety of the nearby shelter enables them to monitor better.

Considering she was doing it for more than just the cosmetic effect, it's possible she wanted to have more able access to the medical team for post-operative care.
