So far, his longest reply is 2 sentences. This ama needs to be buried. I thought I remember seeing that the mods give these celebs an ama rundown and tell them what makes a successful and unsuccessful ama. His will be added to Woody's in what NOT to do in an ama.

Was also wondering this, but in the article it says 5 yr olds wouldn't be able to do the actual equations, but they would be able to sort of understand the concept and it just lays the foundation (I think).

She doesn’t expect children to be able to solve formal equations at age five, but that’s okay. “There are levels of understanding,” she says. “You don’t want to shackle people into a formal understanding too early.” After the informal level comes the level where students discuss ideas and notice patterns. Then comes the formal level, where students can use abstract words, graphs, and formulas. But ideally, a playful aspect is retained along the entire journey.

I'm assuming you meant "Why exactly is looking at the sun eclipse such a terrible idea". It's a combination of what others have said: 1. normally people don't just stare at the Sun for long periods of time, but people would stare towards the eclipse/sun and 2. When the Sun is blocked out, your pupils will dilate and once the Sun returns, your pupils will still be dilated and allow more damage to occur.
