No love for rust?

What do you think about the "Staatsbürger in Uniform" (uniformed citizen) mission statement of the Bundeswehr? Is it relevant in practice?

Safety. If you want type safety you can either use different kind of pointers, which C++ provides via library and Rust has built into the language. The other possibility is garbage collection and it is easier to use for the programmer.
