Yes, ASL's grammatical structure is completely different than English. For many folks who use ASL, communication in English is more difficult--it is their second language.

For those not in the know, /u/Prufrock451 is pretty much the stuff of reddit legend. He wrote a story on here, Rome Sweet Rome, which was pretty much immediately sold to Warner Bros.

In ASL, tenses are spatial. Future is situated in front of the body, past is behind it. ASL doesn't really have a great written analogue, so for many d/Deaf people, English is very much their second language.
