I'm in graduate school in the south, and all of my friends getting PhDs in economics are fervently libertarian and some of them are fiercely anti-democratic socialism. My PhD is in engineering, not economics. Do you think it's possible to get them to see things from a different perspective. If so, how?

Right. But could Rand Paul win? Do we even want a president that isn't committed to fighting climate change or standing up for women's rights? Looking at the alternatives in the Republican Party, I just don't see it. Some of my friends post articles tearing apart Bernie's plans for free college, for example, but would that really be the worst outcome from this election?

Would you rather fight 100 horse-sized ducks or a duck-sized horse? Why?
