A2s were designed in the 60s and built in the 70s and 80s

My grandpa was a pinsetter in high school in the late 30s. Meaning he literally hung out behind the lanes and set up the pins by hand. Of course, this was in a pretty rural part of the country where electricity and indoor plumbing weren't yet universal.

Were some alleys automated at that time? Have you ever run into anything older than the 60s?

Know anything about GM transmissions? What would make the transmission in my s10 (1993, 4l60e 4x4) go "clunk" on the 1-2 shift (but not on any other shift)?

consciously going "ok I need to touch her arm now, that's the right thing to do"?

I'm not OP, but I do have Asperger's. I've gotten very good at concealing it and playing normal over the years. I've developed good social skills, I make friends easily, etc. I even consider myself an extrovert. But in terms of touching/flirting, this is exactly what it is like for me.

If you have ever acted onstage (I have, in high school and more recently in community theatre), you'll know that the act of acting--conscientiously willing yourself to move your face/body/etc a certain way, can be very exhausting. Actors are often drained after a performance--and it's not just from the stage lights.

And when I'm spending time with a girl in a context like you described, it feels exactly like acting. But acting without a script...so my brain is grinding in overdrive trying to generate the script, mentally rehearse it, and execute all at once. Like any other mentally taxing task, it's truly exhausting, in a physical sense.

So when I'm finally alone or have some time to myself, I just feel like falling flat and cloistering myself off for a few [hours/days].

Once I really get to know somebody, it's different. I can act natural around them. People who have known me for a long time know I don't like to be touched, and that touching is unnatural for me.

It looks okay, just a bit dried out. As cheap as replacement parts are, though, I'll just replace it when I get the other parts ordered.
