I was asked a while ago by an Australian charity to try to find IT roles/placements/experience for young people with autism. I met some of these young people, and while their tech skills are good and they're keen to learn, their social/interaction skills would be a limiting factor in certain jobs.

I have lots of IT contacts, but am not sure how to approach them with such a specific request for assistance, especially as they may all be busy working full-time - I don't know whether they have the time or inclination to offer opportunities to people.

Would you have any advice on this? Thanks for this AMA :-)

Go and get some sleep then! I've asked a question of you in a separate comment, but don't stress about answering it just yet :-)

Sweet justice. Thank you for standing up for people with disability against people with ignorant attitudes like that.

I do pro bono IT supprt for couple of charities in Sydney, Australia, and am always humbled by the dedication and compassion shown by people who work and volunteer there.

Also, thank you for making this a truly entertaining and enlightening thread.
