You seem to be misunderstanding what a monetary economist is haha.

It's a school of thought within economics, it's not mainstream but it is not fringe like Austrianism. Most economists are New Keynesian, which is just a fancy word for mainstream as there really aren't that many different schools of thoughts within economics nowadays and no one really specifically subcribes to one school.
