What kind of education do you have and what do you get paid? Here in Canada our cops generally have university degrees and can easily make 80k at the rank of constable.

they're not required per se but if you don't have a university degree you're not even looked at because of how competitive it is. At least in urban areas, might be different in smaller towns.

finish carpenters and cabinetmakers are completely different trades. And good finish carpenters don't work in inches at all, they scribe most of their joints. Only a hack finish carpenter would be happy working to 1/16 accuracy
