What is the least exaggerated yet most unbelievable story that has happened to you while at a con? If that's too specific, weirdest real thing that's happened because you're a celebrity?

Thanks so much for Firefly and Con Man- both have been a great source of entertainment and joy in my life. I would probably faint if I ever met you, but I'll stop the fanboying while I still have some dignity.

Alan, Nathan: What questions do YOU have about Firefly that you wish you knew the answer to?

Not OP, but also a faithful catholic! Also please note that philosophy and theology is very particular, so when I try to answer a question as large as the problem of suffering in a short time, there will be shortcuts and things that could be phrased more correctly.

So what you're asking is the problem of suffering, and it is a very complicated question! God made man in His own image, and one of the meanings of that is that God made man with free will. God did this because He wanted us to love Him freely and without reserve, not because we were programmed to. However, to leave someone open to the choice of love, that means the choice of 'un-love' must also be on the table. This is ultimately what happened with original sin, which rent our relationship with God as we chose unlove and cut Him out. However, the story of salvation history is God's repeated overtures of bringing us back to Him, eventually resulting in God sending His only son that we can be reunited with God more fully. God doesn't interfere with us committing morally reprehensible acts because to do so would be to infringe upon our free will. He does however, have a sense of justice. God wants all people to repent, do penance, and come back to Him, but for those who choose to continue to live in unrepentant mortal sin, well, we all know where this is going. So in cases like the priests outlined above, don't expect everyone to get off scot-free.

So the way I reconcile my faith with these terrible people is this: I am incredibly saddened for the victims, and that the shepherds of my church have gone astray. But I know that God is God and He has spoken in the truths of the Church, and the actions of people inside the Church hasn't changed the truth of the Gospel. People will continue to be evil, in every walk of life, but that doesn't mean I'm going to stop living the best life I can.

Hopefully all this was helpful. Again, while I am a faithful catholic and know a little bit, I am not a catechist or priest, and as such I claim full responsibility for any of the errors in the above. Have a good day NotBrenda.
