There's a lot to take you out of the field if you're just in it for the money. The education is extremely rigorous and expensive, the work is generally higher-stakes than most, and the hours can be shit. Pay is often a poor replacement for either the drive to help people or dedication to the profession, so these barriers end up winnowing out a lot of students that aren't able to commit. All told, health professions are more lucrative but offer a lot more lifestyle constraints.
