Hi David, welcome to reddit! I started /r/troubledteens to save kids from abuse at programs like the one you were forced to go to. I admire your bravery, both when the film was made and now to continue to open your life up to the public.

My questions are: what made you trust Kate and her crew? You could have been subject to horrific punishment for speaking so honestly to her. And how has your life changed because of the documentary?

I started /r/troubledteens to save kids from abuse by the Troubled Teen Industry, I just wanted to thank all of you for your hard work & amazing talent. This film embodies everything that our subreddit is about, I'm at the edge of my seat for its release! I'm impressed with everything you are doing so far, congratulations on making it into Slamdance! That's huge! I hope people will support your kickstarter so this can be the best film possible. Hardly anyone knows this is happening to 10,000 to 100,000 children a year, people need to hear these stories. I think your film is going to make a difference.

I started /r/troubledteens to save kids from being abused at places like Escuela Caribe. I just watched Kidnapped for Christ on Showtime when it premiered a few nights ago and I was absolutely blown away. The footage you shot is extremely rare, no members of the public are usually allowed in these types of places, let alone take photos or video. It truly gives people like me, who have never been in a program, a glimpse into what daily life is really like for these kids. I was shocked and outraged when I saw it before of my own eyes.

Thank you for making this important film, it's great to see it's been getting fantastic reviews, celebrity support, winning awards and now--WOW--it's a Featured Documentary on Showtime! I've been following it since it was a Kickstarter project (that reddit helped to fund), it's been incredible to watch it grow.

My question is, at what point did it start to dawn on you that Escuela Caribe was not what you expected? And at what point did the staff start to realize that they were actually acting out of bounds, and start blocking you from filming the worst incidents?

I started /r/troubledteens and we wholly endorse SIA. If you were abused by an institution for youth, or want to support the children who have been, please check out what they are doing.

That's what I love the most about your project. It has grown from a "heartwarming documentary about a program helping children" to being about all the kids who are currently being kidnapped, abused, tortured, and even killed. When I saw the video with you and Lance Bass standing up for kids who are being abused in similar programs, I cried.
