Why aren't the eight notes in an octave spaced out evenly? Why not just have 12 discrete notes (say, A thru L) for each of the half steps?

Why is middle C at the frequency that it is (roughly 262Hz) instead of say, a nice round number like 250 or 300?

The way music is organized confuses me. Not sure how musicians see it or do you guys not even think about the science behind it at all?

How long does it take to train up to ultra marathon distances? I can't imagine how long your long runs must be every week. Actually, how long are your long runs?

I've often heard that orphaned children tend to develop behavioral issues due to the lack of human contact and attention. Usually this is made worse in poorer orphanages where the number of staff barely meets the needs of the day to day tasks to keep all the children fed and clean much less give them individual attention.

How would you rate the orphanages you are working at in terms of providing the necessary affection and attention to the kids so that they don't grow up with abandonment and other psychological issues?

Also, how did you personally come to work at an orphanage in China? Do you feel your job is rewarding? How hopeful are you for the future prospects of the kids you look after?

One more question if I may, what type of strength workouts do you do and how do you incorporate them into your running schedule? I find that as I train for a marathon and my weekly mileage goes up, it gets harder to maintain the same level of strength workouts without burning my legs out. Any tips? Thanks.

This is pretty awesome work that you do and thanks for answering my questions. I have to say, it certainly takes a very dedicated and compassionate person to be willing to go to a foreign country and do this kind of work. Good luck!
