How do you counter the argument that animal welfare measures would be enough if they were properly applied and enforced? (I get this one a lot)

And actually, beef is the most "humanely raised" of the factory-farmed meats. If people really want to reduce suffering, the first things they should give up are pig products, chicken, eggs, and seafood.
