Because you aren't allowed to fly when more than 34 weeks, then if you have a C-section you can't fly for another 6 weeks (minimum). Then of course if you want to breastfeed, that's longer...

Re Q1, do you have a family? Kids? I'd say many women find it difficult to spend that length of time away from their kids. The shift work and days away at a time aren't exactly conducive to bonding.

This is true. We had some amazing holidays, and in later years, my dad's seniority was more family friendly.
