One thing to pay attention to are the ratios. 538 posted an article today that charts the infection and test totals per 10,000 people so you can get an idea of where things stand as a percentage rather than just raw numbers. I was surprised to see such a low test rate for California given that they're supposedly one of the harder hit states.

How does a speechwriter help prepare an address for a person who likes to ad-lib a lot? How does this differ from writing for a person who sticks to a word-for-word script?

You would like that article. Obviously it would be uneconomical for every software house to follow the same level of rigor NASA does, but it's interesting to read about what kind of culture they have that leads to their code being so successful.

8 year olds are better than adults at a lot of things. I took up rock climbing as a hobby, and the little kids who do it are ridiculous. Their strength to weight ratio is off the charts so they can do so many moves that are impossible for my fat ass. As long as they can actually reach the next hold they make everything look so easy.
