What books have influenced you and your career?

I'm in IT, and there are LOTS of IT jobs that do not involve sitting in front of a computer all day. Working in Network Services means you spend a lot of your day traveling to patch closets, and then your job involves something that looks more like an electricians job than a typical IT job.

You can also get into Desktop Support which is doing a lot of enduser stuff. Some people really like working with folks and their job resembles on-site tutorials.

Lots of universities have their own repair departments as well, so you can spend a lot of your day repairing personal and departmental machines. At my university, we were Apple and Dell warranty repair certified, so we could order parts for and service machines.

There are tons possibilities within IT.
