Hi Jason,

I first heard you on Metropolis back around 1996 when the electronic music scene was still very young and very underground. Back then the only ways to hear some of that stuff was to drive out to shady warehouses/arenas in San Bernardino or out into the desert.

Being such an influential part the EDM scene and bringing much of it into the mainstream through your work in movies, what is your opinion on where it is now and where it is headed?

EDM is everywhere now: commercials, clubs, bars, restaurants, movies, TV shows, giant festivals... many genres have disappeared/are still niche/have evolved into something else (acid house, deep house, breakbeats, jungle). Do you think any of those will ever come up to the surface? Which underappreciated genre of today would you like to see more popularized?

Also, what do you think of the definition of "dubstep" being morphing over the years? I always associated it with a reggae vibe and then it was transferred to the dubstep we hear now.

Thanks again for being awesome all these years. For me, your voice has become very closely associated with being home (in LA) and with very big inflection points in my life.

Yeah, it was either influence by Rorion Gracie or Carlos Machado via their connection to Hollywood (Machado most famously having awarded Chuck Norris his black belt in BJJ). Rorion actually has a cameo in LW3.
