I'm a Brit who is obsessed with Wyoming. In my mind, it is the ultimate example of the American West and frontier.

I've not had a chance yet but I always say my number one holiday destination to go to whilst I still have the chance is Wyoming. I want to take a road trip around the American West.

Camping under the stars, stopping off at roadside cafes, seeing some rodeo shows, etc...

My question is, for someone who lives there, does that Wyoming exists or is it just a myth? I'm thinking of a place full of independent and strong-minded people, self-reliant, beautiful nature, a place where you genuinely can be alone. Away from it all.

Does that exist or is it an outdated myth?

Thank you all for the wonderful replies - general information, offering me more info' if I need it, people offering to take me camping, out for a beer, a place to stay for a few nights. This is what I love about Americans. People shit on the US so much... Generosity and kindness are absolutely ingrained in your culture. You're all awesome.

Ryan, how did you personally feel about Gawker?

The site elicits are a lot of strong reactions around the web (especially here on Reddit) with people being strongly in favour of the work they did or despising it.

Where do you stand? Do you think it was a particularly vile institution or was it no different than any internet blog/'news' site - just a lot bigger?

I'm British and my number one place to visit in the US is Wyoming..

My question is what's it like living somewhere that looks so beautiful? The reason I want to visit is the stunning landscape and wildlife - do you get a chance to take advantage of visiting the mountains that surround your state?

That's what I'm worried about lol. I think it's basically because I sub to /r/earthporn and /r/unitedstatesofamerica so all I see is the beautiful mountains!
