I manage my daughters' band and I have in their tech rider that there "must be a hot water station for tea (only)" as me and my kids drink tea, especially in the cold months, and none of us drink coffee. I put the (only) in there just to be nice so people didn't think they needed to bring in coffee too. At one show one of the runners said to me "I got rid of the coffee pods just like you asked"....and I was like "oh, ok, well, at least they read the rider".

No offense, Dr, but in this age of web development, your site could really do with a visual overhaul. I am guessing that thousands more people would read the information you are trying to present with some simple upgrades to the way in which you've constructed your site.

Or just convert it to a WordPress template and call it a day. A couple of pictures, graphs, charts, etc and you're good to go.

As it stands, its pretty awful and uninviting.

(I know this is an AMA, but I would really like for people to read what he's wrote and form their own conclusions, and I believe reformatting would do a great service to the work he's performed).

Hi Howie. You are, by far, the preeminent historian into Boston hack politics and crime. I have followed you for 25+ years, and coming from Lynn and Southie I love nothing more than hearing your stories about the connections made between the Boston hacks of today and the hacks and criminals of 40 years ago.

And even though you now live with the Beautiful People^TM I just want to thank you for being a "man of the people" and keeping that blue collar attitude.

I do think though this portends the end of the world: Howard Lawrence Carr doing a reddit AMA? Who is typing this all in for you, there are far too few mistakes for you to be doing it on your own?
