That mindset is super-prevalent on Reddit today. You can't criticize socialism without getting downvoted and being lectured that I've been brainwashed by the media about the true nature of socialism.

I like to reclaim the word "liberal"-- once used to denote someone who believed in free markets and small governments. It really tweaks so-called progressives when they see me describe my views as liberal.
