They make your company look so scummy.

Here's a summation of his response and what appears to be deceit.

These fuckers go on marketing campaigns every so often, all they are doing is fishing for traffic. We should all know better.

Their site has operated with the scammy ads, taking advantage of tech-ignorant people, for years.

This should be the top comment/comment chain. This reeks of a publicity stunt to increase traffic. Especially after the bullshit answer given.

Edit: So this get visibility, because this reeks of fishing for site traffic. emphasis mine

  • [–]ookla-brennentsmith Hey smallbluetext - we have strict standards about what ads are allowed to run, and we specifically don't allow "misleading" ads such as those. With that said, they often sneak those ads past Google DFP - we flag them whenever we see them but it's a game of whack a mole

  • [–]paulmasoner Yeah this is PR bullshit. I've used the service hundreds of times from all over the globe over the years. Those ads are ever present

Hey, I’m sorry that you thought my response wasn't helpful. Believe me I hear you. I’m an engineer - I like things to go fast as possible, and I objectively know the impact that third party scripts has on DOM performance. A lot of the third party elements are related to the ads, and I’d love to simplify it. Honestly, I’m not involved in any of our advertising operations at all and I’m frankly out of my zone of expertise. I’ll take ask our advertising team about MacKeeper and find out more about this ad specifically.

So do you know what you're talking about, or not?

Is this just damage control because Reddit pushed the issue it's users care about?

Are you insinuating that as lead software engineer supporting their servers, that you're unaware of what the site front page looks like?

Why would you make such specific statements about policy when you later say your not involves with and have no expertise?

No matter how you answer these questions, you're a mess Jack. Almost as much as the site you keep running.

Same. I've used the service from all over the world for years. It's always there, for a long time now.
