As a mathematician with little to no programming background (have algorithms, complexity, and a bunch of CS theory but no software engineering under my belt) getting into machine learning, taking into consideration available libraries, etc, would you recommend Julia over Python? Please excuse a novice question.

Thank you for replying so quickly! I’m familiar with how vast the library support for python is, hence my question. I’ll be starting grad school soon, reinforcement learning being what I have in mind at this stage. Obviously that can quickly change depending on the availability of professors and interests. Thank you again.

What is your advice for someone with a computer science undergrad with a focus on dynamical systems and graph theory wanting to get into this field? I have been out in the real world for some time but considering going to grad school soon. No biology background after high school. Thank you for taking the time.

Thank you for the advice. Grad school is still in the early planning stages after having postponed it twice already (including this year) for personal reasons. I would like to ask a few questions but probably a year or so from now. Would it be all right if I bothered you sometime in the future?

I’ll check there and look into the careers subreddits as well. Thanks again!
