Hi Will,

My pre-order of WWOTF should be arriving on the day before my birthday, so thank you for the early birthday present!

Anyway, on to the bathos. My question is: why are you not an antinatalist?

It seems like the logical conclusion for anyone who is very concerned about suffering and thinks that the avoiding suffering should be weighted more heavily than the creation of pleasure (assuming you do think that).

I'm probably about 50% convinced of this position myself, but if you can reason me out of this conclusion I'd greatly appreciate it!

Thank you :)

I started reading Michael Nielsen’s fantastic Neural Networks and Deep learning a couple of months ago and was blown away, it made me want to get into deep learning as a profession. My question is: is machine learning a prerequisite of getting into deep learning (in academia or in industry) without having a solid grounding in machine learning?

Could I get by with a shallow knowledge of machine learning or would that be trying to run before I can walk?

Edit: Oh and thanks for doing the AMA ofc!
