Or you just configure your editor to do 4 spaces(or however many you want) instead of a tab when pressing tab. Can even work for removing spaces. Backspace once and it removes the configured amount of Spaces or just one if there are not enough spaces in front of the cursor.

There is a venture mod that basically gives you all the venture features without the need for an unmodified game.
