Studies have found that as many as 80% of active money managers underperform the S&P 500. Why should I (or anyone beyond the ultra-wealthy) pay a money manager an annual percentage of my assets rather than just putting the bulk of my money in index funds which are nearly free?

I'm surprised you gave this answer. The betting market says that /u/JRandMiller hasn't identified the correct top three. The markets say that mayor Pete is more likely to be the nominee than Sanders, and I'm inclined to agree. The markets have Pete more than twice as likely as Yang.
