I did that with my oldest daughter. She recieved a bad grade in math in the 3rd grade and proceeded to tell me that she just wasn't good at math. Her teacher told us that she tried her best. That just didn't sit well with me.

I told her to get that idea out of her head, because if not, she'll never be good at math. I told her that I would be her tutor. All we did was talk about math a little more. We made it interesting. We made it fun. At the dinner table she would ask me to give her a math problem and I would oblige. Needless to say, math is one of her favorite subjects now. She's going into high school and usually gets high 90's on her report card. Proud dad here.

My second oldest is following in her footsteps. These girls gotten several perfect scores in math on their report cards.

So glad they have a love of math!

Would you ever move back for good? Would you like to raise a family there? I have dreams of moving somewhere kinda remote and tropical when I retire.
