I’ve been intrigued by the idea discussed in OMU that the universe is essentially timeless, wherein we, as self-aware mathematical substructures, experience the subjective illusion of time. You posit that the universe is something roughly akin to a DVD, with all the information stored therein, but time appears to be flowing in one direction and fleeting because our reality model is governed by a directional course of mathematical relationships. We experience this “forward moving” feeling because perhaps it is “useful.” (I’m paraphrasing from memory so my apologies if I’ve misrepresented anything).

I’m wondering if you’ve refined your thoughts on our reality model and our experience of time. Specifically, why we experience a one-directional flow that happens to be consistent with increasing expansion and disorder.

Also, and completely unrelated, what are some of your favorite works of fiction?

Thanks so much!

Do mathematicians or physicists know of any mathematical structures that when computed would approach the level and type of complexity observed in our Level I Multiverse? Level II? Level III? I don’t mean things like the square root of 2, or a Mandelbrot fractal – but a mathematical structure that would produce the type of complexity we observe. Thanks!

Do the experiments at the Large Hadron Collider at CERN tell us about the ultimate fate of our place in the Multiverse, and does this have any implications for the MUH ? Thanks!
