The problem is that you can find effects that rise to the level of statistical significance solely as a matter of chance, and misunderstand them as meaningful conclusions. Or, even if you don't misunderstand, the inevitable tabloid newspaper headline will misunderstand.

Which is not to say that you can't discover extremely interesting things to investigate further!

What should I call my child? (will be arriving in November)

What should I look for when making the decision?

so far I have:

  • needs to serve the kid well as a personal brand for life... no fad names, overpopular names, or names that will cause some social disadvantage

  • should be easy to pronounce and spell for as much of humanity as possible.

  • needs to sound normal enough in both the UK and the US (family dynamics)

  • but, still needs to be distinctive enough to be interesting or memorable

  • not overtly religious.

*edit: simplified and clarified question.

I have no way of knowing if this guy is for real or not, but I read the series of interviews he gave to an MMA site. According to those interviews, he was put on desk duty many years ago basically in retaliation for defying orders not to do the kimbo flight... they had approved it, then cancelled that approval at the last minute when it started to get some publicity, and he fought anyway. Ever since then they have been saying he is medically unfit to leave a desk, in spite of clear evidence otherwise.

Also according to him, he has been ordered not to talk about his case now, so he can't answer your question. That much at least is completely internally consistent, so I wouldn't expect an answer now.

Hey this is me! Our four year old has always known that santa was story, like thomas the tank engine or superheros. If we ever tell people that we don't want to lie to our kids about santa, they tend to react like we are practically child abusers.
