TL;DR OP's story is probably not as it seems.

Something is very fishy here. OP says he's contacted 15 attorneys and no one will take his case and he's also contacted the ACLU multiple times and they won't take his case. This almost certainly means that OP has a very shitty case and we aren't getting all of the facts here. If OP had a good case, lawyers would be happy to take this case on contingency, but no one seems willing to take it.

If you received 8-20 years by going to trial, what kind of plea deal were you offered? In retrospect do you wish you'd accepted it?

I think that is what he meant. And dear god I wish that had made the final cut. That would have been hilarious.

This speaks volumes to the strength of your case. If there was conduct by the judicial system that was as egregious and unjustified as what you've described, attorneys you've contacted would be all over that, looking for their piece of the pie. Lawyers working on a contingency fee don't take on cases they don't think will win. I think there's another side to this story that we're not hearing.

I love that he used the phrase "the pucker factor." haha.
