Do you have top secret clearance? I think it's pretty reasonable for them to budge into your private life if you've got that kind of clearance. If anyone has any sort of dirt on you, there's the potential to use it as leverage against you and put info or individuals at risk.

You probably won't use it that much. I've got TS for ground intel in the USMC and my "need to know" is basically nonexistent. The same isn't the case for the director of the CIA. He carries a lot more water than you or me and to demonstrate such worrisome judgement in such an important billet is very troubling.

My buddy was denied signal intel because he was written up as drinking underage at a party when he was 15. That was enough to DQ him. They contacted a guy i played baseball with for one season in high school during my check. I knew it was extensive, but they're really willing to beat around in the woods during the check.

Come to think of it, I thought I heard that in a previous training company an officer was denied TS due to debt issues.
