I guess putting normal people in prison is pretty much torture. So torturing insane people is no better or worse. They don't deserve it any more or less.

For mental anguish. If they aren't going to treat him in an insane asylum then he should be euthanized. Putting him in jail is inhumane and borderline torture. The whole point of the insanity plea is to avoid putting insane people in regular prisons.
