This story reminds me of immigrants traveling illegally into the U.S. still today. Someone I know experienced an almost identical situation.

I'm curious, elephants appear to act so similarly to humans in many ways that it saddens me we (humans as a collective) don't appreciate them, their intelligence and awareness more. What progress have we made, if any, in learning to communicate and connect with them?
